Alabama dairyman elected to national post
Will Gilmer of Lamar County, who owns and operates Gilmer Dairy Farm, LLC. along with his father, David, has been elected by his peers to serve as the new chairman of the American Farm Bureau Federation's Young Farmers and Ranchers Committee. The election was held during the AFBF's 91st Annual Meeting in Seattle in early January. Will and his wife, Joni, are entering the second of their two-year appointment to the YF&R Committee.
Duties of the position include presiding over YF&R Committee business meetings, serving on the AFBF Board of Directors, and acting as a spokesman and ambassador for the YF&R program at various functions across the nation. Will's term as chairman will officially end upon the election of a new chairman at the AFBF's 92nd Annual Meeting in Atlanta in January 2011.
